What are the black streaks on my gutters?+
Those streaks are commonly called "tiger stripes" and they're caused by oxidation combined with airborne dirt sticking to the static charge on your gutters. A regular hose, a normal house wash, or even a strong cleaner won't remove them. We use a specific gutter brightener with a hand-applied process that breaks down the oxidation and restores the original gutter color. Most homeowners are genuinely surprised at the difference, and exterior gutter brightening pairs perfectly with a regular house wash.
How often should gutters be cleaned?+
Twice a year is the standard recommendation for most South Shore homes — once in late spring after the trees finish dropping their seed pods and helicopters, and once in late fall after the leaves come down. Properties surrounded by oaks, pines, or other heavy droppers may benefit from an extra mid-season cleaning. Staying on top of your gutter cleaning schedule helps prevent overflow, ice damming in winter, fascia and soffit rot, and foundation water issues.
Do you clean inside and outside?+
Yes, we offer both interior gutter cleaning and exterior gutter brightening. Interior service includes hand-removing all the leaves and debris, flushing the gutters and downspouts, and confirming the system flows properly. Exterior brightening is a separate process that removes those black tiger stripes from the outside face of the gutters. You can book them together as a complete top-to-bottom package or pick whichever your home needs.
Can I add this to a house wash?+
Absolutely — gutter cleaning and gutter brightening are two of our most popular add-ons to a house wash. Bundling everything into one visit saves you time, gets your home looking complete from top to bottom, and usually qualifies for a combined service rate. It's also more efficient — we're already set up with ladders and equipment, so the add-on goes quickly.
